Don’t Get Banned from Posting to Facebook Groups

NOTE: I will be adding a warning in the next edition of the book regarding posts to Facebook groups promoting your ebook deals and discounts. DO NOT POST PROMOS TOO QUICKLY TO TOO MANY GROUPS. If you reach a certain algorithmic threshold, and Facebook thinks you’re overly annoying other Facebook users or spamming (even though all the groups allow such promo posts), you will be banned from posting in groups for a certain amount of time.
This has happened to me personally twice now, when I was overly enthusiastic about posting promos in all those wonderful groups within a day or so. This last time, I was banned from posting in groups (ALL GROUPS) for two weeks. There is an “Appeal” button, but from everything I’ve heard from other Facebook users, the appeal never works, and the ban remains in effect for the specified time period.
Again, I have not been able to ascertain what the limits are regarding the number of posts or frequency that triggers the ban, but I gather it may be somewhere from 60-100 posts within 24 hours or it could be 20 posts within 10 minutes. I’m just not sure.
I AM sure, however, that if you try to post promos in ALL the groups in the book within 24 hours, you will be temporarily banned from posting to groups, so… make sure you pick the groups that are most effective for your book/genre first; pace yourself posting to those groups; THEN maybe try posting to a few additional groups periodically over time. It’s better to maintain your group posting privileges and post only to the most appropriate groups at a slower pace than to risk a ban from posting to every single group listed in the book within a few hours.
